DICE Silverline DUO-100-BMW (BMW/Mini Trunk Connection) Review

I bought this unit from a different vendor (bavarian sound werks) for my e53 X5. I had had a Dice unit previously in my e46 330xi and was very happy with it.
The install was super easy and kind of fun. As others have stated, you have to remove the spare tire for the e53 install, but that wasn't that inconvenient. I had DSP and Nav, but my car had the 3pin and 6pin connector cables that the Dice unit likes, so no other funky hookups for me. Their instructions are perfect and it took me about 45 minutes total.
Once I got the unit in, installed the optional Sirius SCC1, and hooked my battery back up, the Nav screen had the readout just as it should, the iPhone/iPod cable worked fine, and the Sirius was working. The only problem was with a pretty significant distortion, as if the bass were turned up to max. It sounded blown out and fuzzy (excuse the non-audiophile description). When I turned my iPod EQ to "bass reducer," it sounded much better but nowhere what I'd expect. And Sirius sounded awful, but tolerable. I was considering taking it all out.
But then after reading around, I figured it out and it made a HUGE difference. On the e53 with Nav: Hit "mode" until you get to your Dice, then immediately press preset 3, then hit channel down until it reads "VOLUME: MIN." This made a world of difference in my unit. Went from a sound quality of 4/10 to a 10/10. I am supremely happy with the product now. If this solution was on the troubleshooting page of the manual, I would give the product a 5/5. I'm sure I'm not the only person this has happened to.
The iPod cable (while still attached) sometimes acts like it's been unattached and reattached, but I imagine it's just a bad connection.
